Scrappy Review
2 out of 5
Scrappy continues excusing his own irresponsible behavior with the excuse that he is a puppy when in reality, he doesn't listen. He refuses to accept responsibility for his actions and apologize. Kind of like a child, accurate but not endearing. He shows a surprising proficiency at wood carving. He doesn't really serve a purpose other than to to take up screentime.
Way Too Much Detail
Mystery Incorporated is taking a cruise on the Florida Keys to Haiti. Miss Audrey and Mr Percy are also on the ship. Miss Audrey is interviewing a witch doctor about the legend of the Snake Demon and Scrappy takes that as his cue to carry Shaggy and Scooby into the investigation. First Mate Defarge takes them on a tour. Daphne gets a Snake Demon statue as a souvenir. Shaggy finds a key on a necklace and keeps it for good luck. Miss Audrey informs them Daphne's statue is cursed.
The Snake Demon is on board the ship and I love this character. He's really simple and cool looking. The Snake Demon attacks. Scrappy falls overboard with Daphne's statue. He loses the statue in the water.
The gang searches the boat. Shaggy switches between genre awareness and naivete. He knows that the snake was going to show up while they stood guard. The Snake Demon attacks Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy.
The Snake Demon deals with Scrappy by nailing him in a box. He quickly escapes. Since Scrappy likes making traps so much, it feels like the writers could have paired him with the other members of the team like Fred occasionally.
The ship arrives in New Orleans. Velma dresses up as a police officer to stop the parade float. Then she instantly changes back into her normal clothing. Apparently, she has the gift. I like the float parade and the Snake Demon disguised as a clown. This creature would make more sense if he was supernatural because of the strength used to nail the box shut with his hand and the way the clown costume worked.
First Mate Defarge is revealed to be the Snake Demon. He needed Shaggy's key to open a secret compartment holding smuggled silver ingots.
