Ghostbusters: Mini-Pufts Reaction
As I write this, the fourth Ghostbusters film hasn't been released yet and I'm watching the original Ghostbusters again for the hundredth time (conservative estimate). About two months ago, the studio released a clip from Ghostbusters: Afterlife featuring the "mini-pufts". The chaotic little confections don't show up till 28 seconds into this 54 second clip.
It excited me in a way that few trailers have in a long time. The idea is simple, the marshmallows come to life and chaos ensues. But it's more than that. It's not repeating the first Ghostbusters. It's taking an iconic image from that film and making it something new.I got excited and my nephews got excited. They were shouting about the marshmallows cooking each other. Then there was a debate about whether they were evil because that's just what happens.
It even makes sense that the ghost could take that form. Stay-puft is an advertising figure in that universe and he's literally staring at a bag of . Maybe it's related to Zuul and Gozer. Maybe not. It works.
I'm really excited to see this film.
