Thoughts, Details and Recap
Skippy and Slappy are vacationing in the country during the summer of 1969. Slappy's peace and quiet is disrupted by Woodstock. Slappy drives the concert away with polka.
Woodstock was a music festival held from August 15th to 18th, 1969. It was considered a historic moment. Woodstock was intensely romanticized around the time this episode came out. In 1994 on the 25th anniversary, "Woodstock '94" was held. Five years later, another Woodstock was held, a Woodstock that is remembered for porta potty issues and overpriced water...at least that's what I remember people saying about it. I didn't go to Woodstock but I did go to Lilith Fair. The bathroom situation was good there.
Skippy and Slappy go through a long Abbott and Costello routine about the name of the band. The conversation is complicated by the names of three bands "The Band", "Who" (actually "The Who" but the gag wouldn't have worked as well), and "Yes". This is inspired by "Who's on first?". An oft homaged comedy routine by Bud Abbott and Lou Costello.
Three years later, the Angry Beavers featured a Woodstock inspired episode as well. It had the same conceit of the festival disrupting the lives and home of the protagonist woodland creatures. It's unconnected aside from the inspiration.
