I haven't conducted a comprehensive study but the animators did a better job with Shaggy's goatee in this episode. His goatee is just one of a long history of me getting hung up on a stupid thing.
Too Much Detail Recap
The gang is driving when they spot a man going into an old mansion. They reach their destination, Wetherby Mansion. They are visiting their friend Sharon. Sharon tells them her Uncle Stuart has gone missing. They tell her of the man they saw. Her father identifies the old mansion as the Kingston Mansion. They go to the Kingston Mansion to find Uncle Stuart. They find him and he's apparently become ancient. He describes a ghost demanding the Wetherby fortune be returned to him.
Sharon's father leaves to get the Sheriff. While he's gone, Uncle Stuart follows the voice again and Sharon is abducted by the ghost. They conduct another search of the Kingston Mansion. The first clue is the presence of a bulldog Scooby gets into a fight with over a bone. They also find a skeleton in Uncle Stuart's clothes and a ghost. The ghost appears to them and warns them anyone still in the Wetherby Mansion will age.
They follow the ghost to a mausoleum. Shaggy searches the mausoleum in exchange for four Scooby Snacks. Scooby was ready to take the deal but Shaggy grabbed them first. In the mausoleum, they find a book on Crystalomacy. Spelled Crystalomacy in the show but the proper spelling is Crystallomancy. The ghost locks them in the mausoleum. Scooby finds a secret passage out that leads to the Wetherby Mansion.
The gang goes to a "Swami" in town to follow up on the book they found in the mausoleum. They begin to look around the empty shop. It's so inappropriate to enter a closed shop and start digging around. While at the shop, the ghost appears in the crystal ball and the table begins to fly around the room. When the table crashes, they find a fan motor under the table. They also find a professional makeup kit and a camera that broadcasts to the crystal ball.
They find Sharon and set up their trap for the ghost. Shaggy and Scooby bring a chest to the ghost under the pretense of giving him the fortune. I struggle to imagine how he thought that would work. Did he think it was full of cash? Or do the Wetherby's keep their fortune in jewels? Anyway, the chest is a jack in the box. They use a magic camera to protect images of the ghost, Shaggy and a giant Scooby in the Kingston Mansion. He flees into the room he used to keep Sharon captive where they set up a skeleton to freak him out. When he flees, they drop a net on him.
The ghost turned out to be Uncle Stuart behind all of it. We'll never know why.
