Too Much Detail Recap
Shaggy and Scooby are walking on a spooky night. They find a violin case filled with money. Shaggy goes to a telephone booth and calls the gang. The car that dropped the violin case returns. Scooby is distracted by a poodle with a hurt paw. When the rest of the gang arrives, the money is gone and they find a puppet control from Pietro's Puppets. Scooby reasons the other dog was a puppet. They speculate it's all related to counterfeiting. At the theater, they meet a doorman working a puppet. Shaggy finds a brand new bill at the theater. They take it with them but Velma assesses the bill as real. Fred decides the bill was decoy to trick them into thinking nothing's going on. They immediately return to the theater and begin searching for evidence. A mysterious figure attempts to inflict an accident on the gang.
The mystery man must do his cardio because he's covering serious ground while messing with the gang. The bad guy should have just left them alone and focused on hiding the evidence. They had so little to go on. They find a bunch of empty violin cases under the stage.
While on the stage, a bunch of crazy puppet types try to scare them away. Among the puppets is the poodle that teased Scooby. He attacks the puppet and find an engraving plate inside. I judge where this bad guy hides things. It's universally stupid to hide the damning evidence inside of a thing you're using to mock the people investigating you.
They try to tell the door man what they've discovered but he's just a puppet. When they try to leave, they find out they're locked in (I'm unsure why he'd do that and how that works). The engraving plate is plucked from Velma's hands by a bird puppet.
They return to the basement to find a piece of evidence since every piece they've found so far has been stolen. They find a tunnel door behind a harp case and enter. They are trapped in the tunnel. They follow the tunnel to a ladder. The ladder lets them out onto the stage. Scooby-Doo goes to the catwalk to attack the phantom. Freddy unties the rope the phantom is hanging onto. He drops him into a drum. Shaggy puts a tuba on his head. It's a wonderful moment of teamwork for the guys.
The only other human in the episode is the bad guy. The doorman.
